ATLANTA – In a pivotal moment, Tyler O’Neill's potential game-changing hit was snatched away by Adam Duvall's incredible diving catch, leading to a 4-2 defeat for the Boston Red Sox against the Braves.

O’Neill's drive, with two on and two outs in a tie game, seemed destined for the gap in left-center at Truist Park, but Duvall's heroics denied Boston a victory.

“I think that [could have been] the key hit of the game,” said Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers. “Duvall made a great catch, made a great play. That’s baseball.”

Challenges Mount for Red Sox on Road Trip

The Red Sox are 1-3 on their current road trip, struggling offensively as they face former teammate Chris Sale in their upcoming game against the Braves.

Despite recent setbacks, the Red Sox remain optimistic about their ability to compete against Sale.

“We know how good of a pitcher he is. He’s a superstar,” Devers said. “We know it’s a tough matchup but we’re up to it and we’re ready to face him.”

In their recent losses, scoring runs has been a challenge for the Red Sox, highlighted by Tuesday’s defeat where they went 1-for-14 with runners in scoring position and left 13 on base.

“We didn’t do much,” Red Sox manager Alex Cora said. “We had traffic all over the place and we didn’t cash in. I think it’s just a matter of time before we start clicking on all cylinders.”

Looking Ahead for the Red Sox

Despite offensive struggles, the Red Sox (19-17) continue to pitch effectively, maintaining competitiveness in every game.

“It’s early in the season. Obviously we’ve seen what the offense can do. I think it’s just a matter of time before we start clicking on all cylinders,” said righty Kutter Crawford.
